I was born in Florala, Alabama. My mother and father divorced when I was 5. Music became a friend and I formed a band when I was 15. After graduation from Holmes Country High School in Bonifay, Florida I enlisted in the United States Navy. My Honorable Discharge came and Hollywood, California called, then New York, Memphis, and more.

Mother Nature by Gary Revel
In the early 1970s I wrote a co-wrote a song with my brother Ray Fillingame titled Mother Nature. It was a gentle warning of the coming of Global Warming that would result in the Climate Change we are experiencing today. It was my brother's idea to write the song.
Some of the lyrics are:
We've got to help Mother Nature
If we want her to stay
We can't help her once a year
We've got to help her everyday
